How do you use Cpanel for free hosting

How would I set up the account for people? I know I could set up FTP accounts with X amount of space but there is no bandwith quota :'(
So how do you do it?

You don't do it through CPanel, you do it through WHM. Only reseller accounts come with WHM. Or you use an automated script that integrates with WHM.

The point is, you can't set up CPanel accounts for people if you only have WHM. You MIGHT be able to install a free web hosting script like XPanel, but I donno if that needs root access or not.

Web hosting is not just about giving ftp space, you need to have control over dns, email, databases etc..

So basically you cant do it with just a cPanel account..

You need to have WHM access.. Many sites offer WHM hosting at almost same price as normal single cPanel host (webhostingtalk.com is a better place to search for that)

With WHM access, you can have total control over hosting you offer.. space, bandwidth, databases, emails, frontpage-extensions etc etc

I have WHM as well. I was wondering also if its possible to set up a account without a domain name?

definitely you can do that, sometime before domain propagate there is an url.
just simply open that url.

Its easy to add a subdomain - just type it into the domain field when creating a new account. As long as you have the domain whose subdomain you're adding configured in WHM somewhere else (even in another account), you can create another account on a subdomain of that domain.

autohost2 is much cheaper at 12.49 i hate to say it,their running a special right now. uses whm/cpanel. can use it for paid or free hosting, with their tld or subdomain.

you should also include your admin panel so potentail buyers can see that or at least have screen shots of it djbob

wait, it integrates in CPanel? Cool, if only I had know about it in the past... wouldn't have gone through the ordeal of getting my own.
