Using WHMAP for a free hosting company? I use it for my paid hosting business, however im not so sure it is suitable for a free hosting company, so im just going to buy xPanel, however has anyone here used it for a free hosting biz?

We don't use it for free hosting, per se, but we do it use it for our comp accounts as well... Just create zero charge, mail in payment plans. You can also use it then to upgrade to paid accounts, or sell addons through numerous payment gateways if needed.

That actualy sounds like a good idea. But depending in on how the owner wants to setup websites some do not offer domain hosting most only offer subdomain hosting etc. Any idea's?

You could probably just change the comment field on the order form to "What would you like your subdomain name to be?" and manually create it in WHM then. With modification it could probably done to automatically create the account, but I am not a fan of auto creation. Depending on how fast the signups come, it would be easiest to have them create a user account, then you set up the hosting account and assign it to that user.

if you getting 200 signups a day I would hate to be making them by hand ;)

I'm not a free host, so 200 signups a day would pay for more staff to manually enter each one...and I'd be smiling all the way to the bank :D

On your free site, aren't you concerned that automated signups to over 200 people a day will cause you issues? I understand fraud isn't an issue with a free host, unless you offer upgrades or addons, but what about spammers.. We have a list of know spammers and their aliases that we watch for.. automated signups for us would mean they might slip thru.
On your paid host, do you have automated signups? Any issues if you do? About 3 years ago we had automated signups....now we no longer do, it isn't worth the time savings in account creation.

I would drop plans for WHMAP and use xPanel. I looked into it some today and it does seem impressive. For the compared prices.. I'd say xPanel is quite good. :D
