Okay, Ive got a couple of questions regarding image hosting.
first of all, would it be possible to add adsense to all the hosted images? something like another file instead of just upload with a couple of words to describe the image/catagorize it, and generate a html page with the image? (adsense running on the page..)
two, Are there any commercial image hosting software?
three, How much space/bandwidth does this stuff normally run through and for how many images on average? Im planning on offering a 1 mb upload limit.. each server would probably be around 600gb with around 2-3 tb of bw available, how many images do you think each server could hold?
How many views does a normal image host get daily?
What are the best places do advertise? (Doesnt need to be free..).

Thanks.

1. Doesnt sound practical.
2. Yes, check google and WHT.
3. People can use up a lot of bandwidth. Its impossible to tell you as it can very a lot, just be prepared to get bombarded with traffic.
4. Impossible to answer.
5. on FWHT, Google AdWords, but word of mouth is best.

Well I tried to do 1 in a sense, by having an htaccess that forwarded all traffic without a referer to images, to a "page" with the image and an ad rather than just the image.

Didn't work however, lots of users reported problems.
3. a fair few, I'd say a few hundred thousand images each bandwidth wise, you'll need a 100mbps uplink though, as 10/20mbps can be too restrictive at peak times.
4. well I can only speak from my experience, when I sold it we were getting about 60,000+ unique visitors a month to the pages, however it would probably be several million a day to the images (server logs got WAAY too big to process
