how much money do you make with your free web hosting business? Is it just enough to pay the server bills? I was thinking about starting one, but I don't know if I can make enough money. I have a dedicated server on a T1 line that I could use. I don't pay for the T1, but once I used lots of bandwidth I would have to colocate to a real datacenter.

That is just like walking up to someone and saying "Hey how much money do you make?"

I will just say, enough to pay for everything and then enough to keep motivated.

that isn't enough to pay for colocation. Are you doing this from your home dsl/cabel, or do you have some kind of reseller account?

$500 - $600 a month with 800 Clients so far. From: Google adsense, Adsearch and account "upgrades".

Making a free hosting site is time consuming and is a tough market you need alot of advertising.

Wont signature advertisement and some banner advertisement be enough?

Yes it will be enough and use http://www.clickherefree.com and places like that to advertise and add your host to there directory of free hosts.

LOL :D umm, I didn't really think there was one. Your site must be good enough and have alot of text (information) so you can earn revenue from the ads. Basically that's it just make sure you don't try to have to accounts. ;)

that isn't enough to pay for colocation. Are you doing this from your home dsl/cabel, or do you have some kind of reseller account? Most free hosts don't actually colocate. In fact, I am the only one I know that does. Most use either reseller accounts, VPS accounts, dedicated servers, or clusters at the very high end.
