my last phpbb forums got hacked by some guys i sort of know, so i think ill make the switch to invision as it is ment to be alot better and safer and harder to crack,

is there any other decent forums out there im missing out on >?

Just try to keep your phpBB up-to-date and use a strong password. There's many cases of forums being hacked due to weak passwords.

While vBulletin is good, it costs money and is expensive so I don't think that's what he needs. There's SMF which, recently, is gaining quite a lot of popularity.

phpBB is fine if you have the proper security. ;)

There's also the possiblility that it wasn't the phpBB that got hacked...

as you said it costs money, but beleive me its definately worth it, theres a lot less hacks out than what there is in phpbb, the problem with ones like phpbb is that its open source so people can figure out more easily how to hack/exploit it
