**I want to setup a free/paid hosting company**
Hello my name is Scott.
I am interested in setting up a Free/Paid hosting company with someone who has maybe got some experience in the hosting industry. I have around 2 years knowledge with hosting. I have recently purchased a resellers account which I would use to start everything of. I was thinking of displaying forced ad's on free accounts and very affordable paid hosting packages that would suit Beginners to Advanced people! So If someone could come along and we can get started on this straight away once things start to get sturdy and we get a bit of income that's when we move on to buying a dedicated server.
I need someone who is online everyday for most of the day and can help contribute to the company not just money but by offering customer support via email and live help which would be setup. Just so the customers can feel they can rely on us and get a fast response which would be an attribute to the company!
So if you wanna give this a shot (Youve got nothing to loose!), Just send me a email or Pm me and I will reply ASAP!
Yours sincerely,
Scott.

It is great to hear that you are thinking about starting out in the business. What I would say is that you are asking quite a lot of your potential partner.
I would also recommend that you try to find a unique selling point or niche market for your hosting - something to set you apart from the rest of us.
Be careful who you get in with - I have heard of many scammers out there who will ruin everything you have once they get hold of admin access. Think long and hard about what you want from this and maybe start out on your own. It would seem that you have all the necessary experience. Try just offering free hosting with the forced ads for now, if that goes well, upgrade your hosting and think about implementing the paid hosting. When offering free hosting your support offering can be a little less - maybe offer a ticketing system rather than going to the lengths of a live chat.
I wish you the best of luck
Jeff

I agree about ticket system for support. If you just start you own company you probably don't vae good server and chat is using a lot of resorces.

that's a lot to ask for, what do we have to lose? how about hours and hours that we could use by having a job that pays by the hour

I think the author was saying there is not much to lose in terms of money and it would be a great experience.

No, he did not say that at all. He asked what is there to lose. When someone asks, "What'd ya got to lose" you don't assume it is about money.
And even if you do assume that, time is money my friend. I hope you have learned that by now.

You amaze me. On a personal level, you baffle me with the comments and requests you make. Why i do remember in a PM from you on this forum you tried to tell me that 275mb.com and DKM Hosting had nothing to do with each other - what a clear cut lie. I say this because I simply find it hard to listen to anything you have to say. You debate for no real logical reason.
Time may be money to you, but there are a thousand kids and adults out there on the internet who would find it interesting to join an upcoming host (whether it be destined for failure or success). The experience of some things can not be purchased nor given to you, they must be earned. Experience in the free hosting world is a great in teaching lessons to those involved - it teaches you how ignorant some people are, how lots of people fail to even read the text that says "User must agree to blah blah blah before hitting submit for an application"... There are countless lessons that can be learned, all which are well worth the time and money invested. It is not your job to go around and bag on people who are not here to offend anyone. If you feel the need to critique things, do what i do and critique hosts that fail to meet any level of quality that one would expect from a host.
Good luck to you. Good luck to the author of this post. Don't bother replying as I will not argue with a person over the internet, especially you.
Cheers.

Whether you reply or not I have a right to stand up for myself. You will not bash my company and then ask for no response.
I never said 275mb and DKMHosting have nothing to do with each other. You said you had a special advertisment deal for a free host that brings in a certain amount of hits. I said I think I reach that amount, but you said I advertise dkmhosting on every page. You were sadly mistaken. You were seeing my DKMHosting 404 page that is standard on my 275mb server. You were looking at user's sites that had been deleted because of TOS violations (I monitor my websites). So talk about experience, apparently you have none. All you would have had to do is look up in the address bar and see there is a 404 page instead of the user's website.
You obviously have no expierence in the business world and do not realize at ALL what I am saying. What you are talking about for this free hosting deal about expierence...is called an INTERNSHIP. And as an intern, you get paid. How do I know? I work as an intern myself and get paid. I am getting expierence and getting money so I can eat food everyday and support myself. To work for hours everyday and get no pay just for expierence? Well...I guess since my parents don't throw money at me I just don't get it. But for someone who has to support himself, this offer is absurd. And don't give me this..."Well what if the company goes big and makes tons of money". We all know that even though this is very possible it takes a long time and is very hard to live off of.
But hey...what do I know. I only started a company by myself at a young age and have made it a huge success...to the point where when I'm done with college I won't even bother looking for a job. Maybe I'll have some free time and bother responding to posts that by author's who have no idea what they are speaking of.
