Default Best Forums?
For a free hosting company, what do you think is the best forum that should be used. I've seen various people on phpbb and mybb. What would you suggest? Do you think it's wise to invest in Vbulletin on a FREE host?

EDIT: I'm not only directiing this thread on phpbb, vb, mybb. You can talk about any other forums you feel are good to use.

well i know phpbb is always a first due to being free but there are also a lot of exploits sometimes we have seen over the last 2 years with phpbb.

With VB you are buying a paid product that has paid support behind it if you have a issue.

If you are serious about the forums i would go with the VB, but this is just a personal opinion.

vBulletin seems great, there are no competitors, lots of people want it as a free host. Doesn't it? Here's the sad part: the vBulletin license forbids it...

I just glanced over there license agreement and see no restrictions for using this for any type of hosting forums or p4h system. I only seen this section about using it to promote illegal activities such as those that infringe copyrights, and illegal software, ect...

Oh, I misread; I apologize.

I thought the original poster meant using the forums for a free hosting company as in; free forum hosting like invisionfree.

If vBulletin is what meets your needs, then sure! However, if a free forum solution would work fine for you, I don't see any need to go with vBulletin.

Same, I agree. phpBB and http://simplemachines.org are very nice free, open source boards. Simplemachines is also very secure.

I use MyBB. It's free, it has all the features I've ever wanted, and it looks nice. I'm pretty sure it is secure as well
