If you have the time you shouldn't need much money. Instead of paying for a control panel why not build one? Use a domain you already have, all these will save money. Don't jump in both feet first just get a reseller account then get a vps/dedi.

I'd suggest you either get a high quality VPS or a low quality server, which could cost you as low as $65/mo

Not sure if you ever consipred with a developer on the cost to create a control panel but you are looking at a min. $2k just for the basics plus you have maintaince for it also.

No I haven't but iv coded myself one with basic functionality over the week, to start with it doesn't need all the bells and whistles of ipanel to start off with, these can be added later on.

Really, there is no minimum. Essentially you can get a free reseller account or get on a friends server and start giving away free hosting, soon enough you'll be able to migrate to a vps and get going from there although to be reasonable you should start out with a vps and an ad script such as ipanel

I think you are talking about a account creation script and not a control panel. Major difference as there is no way a control panel even with just the basic functions like apache, mysql, bind, ip deligation integration can be done in a week. If you have actually made a control panel in a week i would be interested in what all you integrated in it as we have been quoted by several companies for a project like this and with multiple programmers working solid 8 hour days, it taking a month just for basic functions and abilities.
