R.P. Quinn Consulting is pleased to announce yet another script offering for free web hosts. AdChecker is a perl spider which is designed to check all the sites you host to ensure your users are running the ads you require. Many hosts do not want to restrict their users by using clunky headers and footers but do still require ads be placed on all user pages. The problem with this method is that in order to ensure that your ads are being displayed you need to check all your users sites at least somewhat regularly. With AdChecker you provide a list of your sites (we are currently working on a helper script to generate these automatically for WHM users) and AdChecker crawls each site making sure every page includes your code.

features

Simple setup. Single configuration file

Reads sites from a basic csv text file

Customizable notification emails for the customer and the host.

Crawls the pages rather than just reading the raw html on the server which means it can check cgi and php scripts too.

Can save an html report daily on your server.

Spider does NOT check robots.txt files. This means your customers can not keep you from checking their site. It also means this script should only be used on sites you host.

AdChecker can be run manually via a browser or shell or set up to run in cron.

AdChecker is available for just $9.99 (order here (http://www.rpquinn.com/adchecker.html))

Installation and Setup is available for just $20

While I cant set up a full demo that allows the user to set the options you can take a look at this already installed copy:

http://www.rpquinn.com/adchecker/adchecker.pl

This copy is configured with email notifications turned off and html reports turned on. The report can be found here: http://rpquinn.com/adchecker/adreport.html

By browsing to the script URL you are initiating a scan of a few of my sites for the word "Quinn" (obviously we dont recommend putting this in a public directory as a general practice). Normally you would scan for your ad code but I wanted to make sure some pages passed. The report gives you a list of all the pages that do not include the specified text/code.

Also, I have this copy set by default not to parse URLs with arguments which means it will look at the main page of a forum but wont dig through all the posts, it takes a LOT longer to parse through a whole forum. If anyone does want the ability to parse through forums I can add it as a configuration file option.

If anyone has any questions or would like further information let me know.
