I'm considering starting a free hosting service soon. I've got everyone planned out and ready to go, but just have one question.

I'm planning on using xPanel, but it doesn't seem to offer multiple server support. The server I'm going to use will be alright, and I'll be able to upgrade it, but even so... If I manage to eventually get several thousand users and it proves too much for just one server, what's a fellow to do?

If your that big I think you'll be able to afford to hire a guy to make a custom script for you. You could prolly upgrade your server to the point where you could handle about 3500 users. At that time you should be making enough money to afford a better script.

I suppose that would depend on the quality of the users and what I did to weed out inactive ones. If I had 3500 users each getting 10+ visitors per day, it'd be some decent money (depending on pageviews or CTR). Thanks for the help.

Ok - so who would one hire to make this script. Xpanel is great but I will outgrow it soon. Is there anything commercial for freehosting that can do this instead of developed?

I would want it to scale infinitely :) lol - is that asking too much?

Cpanel and freehosting seems like a mess and I don't think it's locked down enough

What exactly are you looking to have scale? About all you would need is a DNS cluster setup and you should be all set in the area of free hosting. You do not need to have 1 MySQL server serving 4 web nodes or anything like that. Even that can be done pretty easily though.

Are you looking for your signup script to scale across multiple servers? If so just change the addreses to the new server once an old one reaches it's capacity.
