How To start Free webHosting Company ?
can anyone help me ?
i like to start free webhosting company, i have 1 Dedicated Server with 1000Gb BW and 120Gb Space..and on contract for 1 year.
1. what is the best freewebhosting script ? (budget $200 or less)
2. http://yourname.myname.com or http://myname.com/yourname ?
3. non upgradetable....or upgradetable ?
Thank you

1. Does your server come with a control panel? If it comes with WHM/cPanel there are plenty of scripts for free hosts. Look at http://www.idevspot.com (look at the AutoHost script) or I also have made one myself. Email me at amfr@comcast.net and you can get it for free. If your server does not come with a control panel, look at xpanel: http://www.xpanel.com
2. Definitely subdomains
3. It depends if you are going to be a post 2 host or have instant account activation. If you are the first, you should have upgrades for more posts and possibly paid upgrades. If you are the second, you should have 1 free plan and possibly paid upgrades.

yes i have cpanel in my DS, xpanel looks great.
my other question,
1. if i like to make it totally free, can ads make some money around $150 - $300 / mo ? and where i should put the ads
2. unmetered or metered BW and space ?
3. adult content or non adult content
4. wich one is better: 2 letter cctld (like on.dx) or 3 letter net like (ldx.net)
5. Ftp or Http to upload ?
thank you

1. how much money you make depends on how successful the host is. it is possible to make $300 if you have a big host. If you want to go through the trouble of installing mod_layout, that is the best solution, otherwise, let users place the ads with some restricions (like the ad has to be in the first 600 pixels)
2. NO!!! no such thing. people wont think your host is reliable
3. no adult content - if you want to host adult content, start a new, seprate host for adult content
4. if you could offer both, that would be great, it doesn't really matter as long as people will remember it
5. both - ftp is better for "advanced" users, http is better for beginner users

sorry, but this answer makes no sense at all to me?

1. What amfr said.
2. He meant don't give anything unmetered. And if its a free host, there is no question of reliability - just sign up. Somebody would probably signup and then destroy your server with giant download requests. You know, upload his whole hard drive, then go to a lab and make all the computers there download that file. Bad idea.
3. Non-adult.
4. The 2 letter cctld is better, because it looks like you have your own domain. The .net makes it look like a subdomain.
5. Both. Use CPanel.
Just get a reseller account, make sure it has CPanel, and you can start.

We offer a newer version of auto host called ihost written by the same coder as auto host. If you are looking to offer only free hosting we also have iPanel that has a few more features for free hosting providers that can be found at www.ihostdev.com

Hello,
For our free script iPanel (ihostdev.com) we are finishing our version 2 that will have forced ads into the members header and footer of there website. This is scheduled for a deta release on sunday/monday. Once the beta is released there will be a large price increase as there are 8 other features that will make this a very powerful panel for both free and paid hosting providers. Any one who currently owns iPanel v1.01 will get a free upgrade to v2.0.
For the forced ads to work you will need a VPS/Dedicated server with atleast 2 IP's
The members will be able to use either http or ftp as they will have an actual cpanel account with what ever limits you set for the free accounts to be set up on.
I can set up a free 10 day trial for the current iPanel v1.01 to test it out if you like.
Just let me know

I run multihoster (http://www.multihoster.com). It is a free webhosting script, and best of all, it is free (and open source). Check out the site for features and downloads, and if you have any other questions, you can reply here or at the support forums.
